The brief:
XYZ networks came to Amnesia looking to upgrade the existing Channel [V] website and create something new and unique to promote and support the Channel [V] TV station on Foxtel & Austar. The site was to build on the existing site, providing users information on their favorite shows, find out what had been aired on the shows and enter competitions, whilst providing more music related content, gigs and watch music videos with the overall goal of growing their user base and increasing traffic.
Our solution:
Looking at the Channel [V] brand, it is seen as one of the premier music channels in Australia and we wanted to continue that online to create “The source of all music”. To do this, we created a new but overly familiar brand to add to the Channel [V] family, VMusic. To become this source, we created a strategy that would build on the existing content, but then enhance that by pulling in a large range of feeds relating to news, music information (over 1.3 million artists), gig and other data sources were pulled together in a completely unique Web 2.0 interface utilizing a streaming video service.
Visit the VMusic site here: www.vmusic.com.au
Results:
The resulting site was scratch built, and provides a huge amount of content the content whilst they watch the latest music videos. The whole design of the site breaks away from traditional navigation and through the use of a slider for navigation, visitors are encouraged to explore and share new content on top of their existing favorite areas of the site. Since the site launched, the number of registered users has gone up and the new content displayed on the site continues to grow daily as new sources are found and more site contributors are brought on.
