Nude Safety Videos on Air New Zealand (Well almost)

by Doug on August 20, 2010

Having recently won the Tourism New Zealand global account I find myself travelling from Sydney to Auckland on a fairly regular basis. Yesterday I flew back on Air New Zealand (normally I fly Qantas but might change now) and was very taken by the way they have extended their very successful brand campaign into their nude safety video.

Sometime back Air New Zealand launched their “Nothing to Hide” campaign which has various Air New Zealand employees naked except for some fantastic body paint work talking about the fact that they have nothing to hide about their new low airfares. This is set to the fantastic Gin Wigmore vocal.

So it’s no surprise that when they have taken this concept into their new safety video every single set of eyes in the cabin were glued to the small screen. Even the seasoned travelers were silenced and everyone I could see had put down their newspaper or iPad. What a great example of extending the brand to the onboard experience. It was one of those moments where I found myself saying “I wish I’d done that!”
