Man to cut off finger to raise $1m for daughter. Milliondollarfinger.com

by eunmac on April 4, 2007

NOTE: THIS SITE SEEMS TO BE DOWN – WE PREDICTED BELOW IT HAD SOME VIRAL POTENTIAL AND THIS HAS OBVIOUSLY CAUSED PROBLEMS FOR DAN THE MAN WHO WANTS TO CUT OFF HIS FINGER. HOPE HE GETS HIS SITE BACK UP SOON… WE WILL POST HERE IF IT DOES.
————————————

This is a great story and the beginning of a nice home brew viral campaign. Dan wants to stay at home and look after his daughter Mabel  who has cerebral palsy. He needs 1 million dollars (sounds like a lot but after you look at the breakdown it’s about $28,000 a year to live on for him).

He doesn’t expect a free ride so he’s allowing donators to choose whether he can keep his finger or not. Ouch. When he hits the $1m he will do whatever the voting demands.

So far his web counter has 3977 views and $999255.07 to go.
77 votes to keep the finger, 1 against.

Long way to go, so pass this link on :)

Good luck Dan. We wish you and your family lots of luck. Well done on excellent use of the digital medium :)
